Would you like to do something practical to make Victoria Park an even more beautiful place? During October, together with the city council, we will be planting wildflower meadows on the slopes overlooking the water maze. At the start of next year, we will be planting a number of new trees in various parts of the park. If you would like to get involved and help out on either or both of these days, the dates are as follows:
Saturday October 18th - planting out the wildflower meadow, from 10am until 3pm. Meet at the water maze. Some tools and refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. This task will involve some digging and raking.
Sunday February 1st 2009 - tree planting. Tools and assistance will be available from council staff. Details of when and where will be sent out nearer to the time.
We need as many volunteers as possible to help out with both of these tasks, so please put the dates in your diary and come along on the day with your children, friends and family, even if it is only for an hour or two.
Here is a Word document containing tons more information on what kind of wildflowers we will be sowing, and what benefits they will offer the park.
